Online Public Grievance Lodging and Monitoring System

Today I was just checking the news groups and came across this site which has been launched by Government of India(GOI)
http://pgportal.gov.in/index.html.

Here people can lodge there
grievance against any Government organization of India. You can check the status of your grievance and the best if your grievance is not addressed you can escalate it further.

From my personal experience I can tell that it is really difficulty to get a complaint book in government offices, and I am sure any one who has tried doing it knows this fact.

I was really happy to see that at least GOI is trying and it thinks that addressing peoples concern is worth while. By making the process of submitting the complaint easy will encourage more people to come forward and report there grievances.

We can debate on the fact, as how successful GOI will be able to execute this program. But what is appreciable is that now at least common people can lodge complaints, without running pillar and posts to know how to do submit a complaint. The online tracking of the status of the complaints will also help, that issues are closed properly and not left unattended.

The first step to solve any problem is to acknowledge that there is a problem. Good to know that our government has realized it. This is definitely a very positive move in the right direction. I hope people use it in right way and our society improves.

iPhone 3G without a 3G network launched in India

On 22nd August 2008 iphone 3G was officially launched in India by two leading mobile phone companies Airtel and Vodafone. Though there was no mad rush of people waiting outside their stores after midnight to get there phone. But still in different part of the country there were few people who got there phone at the stroke of mid night.

I saw a lot of press covering , news report on TV about this event and what cool features it has and how it will change the way Indians are using cell phones. Will it be as big a hit as in the US? I saw almost all news channel having at least a hour long program dedicated to iPhone 3G launch.

What amazed me was that no one pointed out that both Airtel and Vodafone are putting advertisement that iPhone 3G is now in India. What will a consumer do of this 3G phone when we do not have a 3G network in the country. Aren't the mobile companies making a mockery of the consumer. They are asking the consumers to purchase a 3G mobile phone without providing a support to run these 3G phones.Or they feel that Indian consumers are big fool, who just go for brand to enchance their status.

People who have purchased this phone in India, please ask this question to Airtel and Vodafone.

What will I do of a 3G phone without a 3G network ?
